DC-Nikkor 135mm f2.0 D Lens Bokeh
9 Aperture Blades
Creamy to Dreamy Bokeh

The Bokeh King? maybe, but it is the most variable.

This lens can be called the King of Bokeh, or at least the most variable. Along with its little brother, the DC-Nikkor 105mm f/2.0 D, these 2 lenses have a patented feature that lets you control the amount of "Dreaminess" Bokeh of each f-stop in 11 increments; ZEROED, 5 Background-Focus steps or 5 Foreground-Focus steps. DC is Nikons shorthand for "Defocus Image Control", a term I dislike for this fine lens. Personally I call it "Dream Control".

The first image, in Black & White, is about as rough as you'll ever see this lens' Bokeh. What looks to be a tiny bit of Jittery Bokeh is actual sharp spines of the plant. Well done Nikon.

The images of the Orange Flowers and the Lamborghini Logo are all shot at f/2.0. The first image of each is ZEROED with no Focus-stepping. The second image of each shows the same shot with maximum Background-Focus stepping. (all other images on this page were shot at the ZEROED setting & f/2.0)

This lens is very sharp, even wide open, so even without the DC feature this is great lens for Bokeh. More images need to be shown to really appreciate the full capabilities of this lens as we only show the 2 extremes in these examples. I most often shoot this lens ZEROED and this is my first choice when needing a 135mm lens.
